The building related services are as important in architecture as the organ systems are to the human body. Like in the case of a human body, several cells combine together to form tissues, several tissues further combine to form organs, and several organs further combine together to form organ systems which in turn makes the human body fully functional. Same is the case in architectural designing, several services are required to be in conjunction with one another so as to ensure that the designed structure is fully functional and efficient.
Organ systems like the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, the respiratory system etc can be correlated with the building systems like plumbing, electrical, HVAC etc. Like in the case of a human body, all the organ systems play a major role in making the human body fully functional, it is these building services in architecture which makes the structure fully functional. Even if one system fails, the structure would not be in a position to function properly and therefore would eventually fail.
It would not be even possible to imagine any structure without any of these services in order. These services more importantly have to be in conjunction to one another to ensure the functionality and the efficiency of the structure. Also, it would be pertinent to mention here that these very services play a major role in defining Architecture to be a multi-disciplinary profession.
